My Goals for This Season

Although we will always be Thunderbolts in our hearts, this season is the last for the team. Next year is high school and we will all be moving on to new adventures. Let's make the last season as the Thunderbolts the best season.

With that in mind, I'd like to share my goals for the season:

  1. Have fun.
  2. Work hard and commit 100%.
  3. Talk less, listen more (this could be the hardest one for me).
  4. Build individual soccer skills.
  5. Juggle the ball 50 times (a personal goal for the coach).
These are simple goals but I think they will have a big impact. I look forward to hearing the goals from the team at tonight's practice.

First Practice Tonight!

Hey Thunderbolts!

First practice is tonight. Looking forward to a good scrimmage. Also, I set up a Facebook group for the team. If you use Facebook be sure to join. Between email, this blog, and Facebook I think we should have pretty good communication.

See you tonight!

Think Fall

You may not have noticed, but it is freaking hot. ONE HUNDRED AND THREE DEGREES? You have to be kidding me. All I can think about is how hot it is. It is inescapable, unrelenting, and cruel. But instead of dwelling in our over-heated self-pity, I suggest the following:

Think Fall.

Think about leaves changing, rain falling, wind blowing, chilly fall. Think about soccer. Kicking the ball across a muddy field, a cold mist touching your cheeks, and the sound of the brisk evening air blowing past your ears as you sprint for a well placed cross.

I feel a little cooler already.

See You Next Fall!

Hey Thunderbolts!

Awesome laserporting on Monday! It seems having unlimited shots helps increase your score... A LOT! It was fun to run around with you all one more time.

It was an honor to be your coach this year. You are all wonderful young ladies. It has been a pleasure to see you all grow up and become incredible soccer players. Thank you for giving me a chance to try being the head coach.

I'd like to thank the parents. Without you raising such great people, coaching would be a lot harder. Getting to practices every Tuesday and Thursday and games 45 minutes early (it made a difference!) for warm-ups isn't always easy. And thank you for bringing snacks, taking a turn at lines-person, and all the other things that come along with being a soccer parent.

Finally, I want to thank Coach Mike and Coach Mary. Without their support through the season I couldn't have done it. You guys rock!

In the end, it was a great excuse to play some soccer and watch some exciting games every Saturday. I hope you all had as much fun as I did.

See you next year!

Best,

Coach David

Thunderbolts Win!!!

Good ball control, aggressive play, and a great goal by Carissa against a pretty evenly match team lead to a 1-0 victory this Saturday.

We've only got one game left. It has been an awesome season so far, I'd love to go out with a "W." But no matter what I'm extremely proud of the way we played and I am grateful for the opportunity to be your coach.
